Think Civil War reenacting is only about soldiers, guns, battles and the like? Guess again! We civilians, North and South, are as vital a part of the picture now as we were then. Those on the "home front" spent countless and tireless hours aiding in the war effort, and thoughts of those who waited at home kept the soldiers going as much as commands from their sergeants and officers.
There are many roles for the civilian reenactor - nurse, spy, "landed gentry", political activist, widow, laundress, shop-keeper, temperance speaker, refugee, just to name a few, and the CCWS's veteran reenactors are a wealth of information and love to help newcomers. If you have a love of history and a desire to "travel back in time", we invite you to join us.
